Google Voice

Google Voice is now available to the general public, and best of all is FREE!

The benefits to Google Voice are many:

  • You get one phone number that can ring to a number of existing numbers, home, office, mobile, so where ever you are, you can be found.

  • All messages are translated into text. For FREE. So if you are in a meeting, you can see the text of a voice-message and respond to it without incurring any charges through your cell-phone provider. This also allows you to search for a voice-mail by text rather than scrolling through hundreds of voice messages hoping to find the one you want.

  • And there are SMS features, cheap international call features.

  • But here's the one I love:  FREE conference calling!  Just have folks call your Google number, and then as they line-up, you add them to your cue and begin your meeting. Very kewl. Audio only for now, but you can see the direction.

Downside: Google will naturally have all your information.

Still, I think it is worth the downside.
